WHO AM I?
Description: Journalist, Photographer, Communications specialist.
In 2013 I began a Bachelor of Journalism at Swinburne University. Since then I have worked as a journalist in the Yarra Valley, embarked on a Foreign Correspondent Scholarship to Jordan and worked as a Communications Officer at Zoos Victoria and Bundaberg Regional Council. Through my work and study I have obtained a strong expertise in social media activation, content creation, content marketing and news writing.
Over period of three years as a Journalist I progressed from a Cadet to an acting Editor responsible for producing five individual newspaper mastheads and an annual Tourist Magazine. At university and at work, I earned a reputation as a dedicated journalist with a passion for accurately covering important issues and events, engaging readers, and helping fuel positive change.
In addition to my experience at The Mail, I have also worked at Healesville Sanctuary as a Communications, Media and Tourism officer. In this role I helped source content for the digital media platforms - Instagram, Twitter and Facebook - which had an accumulated reach of 300,000 people. While there, I wrote, edited and dispersed media releases and often independently organised media events with the Herald Sun, The Age and Channel Nine.
Speaking to my Communications experience, in my role at Bundaberg Regional Council I was responsible for producing three written stories and one nightly video for Bundaberg Now - a council-run publication. In consultation with the Mayor, Councillors and executive leading team I developed and distributed media content through the Bundaberg Now digital publication, while also organising media opportunities, monitoring social media and writing speeches.
I am a dedicated and flexible writer, who on a day-day basis can quickly and easily develop story lines and translate complex policies into easily understood messages for a wide and varied audience. I have demonstrated to my superiors at all jobs that I can write, compile and edit content and images as needed for an organisation's paper and online publications – including but not limited to; web content, e-newsletters, brochures, factsheets and reports .
